Foundation stone laid for Aluminium Coating Project

SOHAR — A ceremony was held at Sohar Industrial Estate in the North Al Batinah Governorate yesterday under the auspices of Shaikh Said bin Humaid al Harthy, Wali of Liwa, to lay the foundation stone of the Aluminium Coating Project, which is one of the expansion projects of the aluminium rolling factory. The total cost of the project stands at RO 32 million and it is the first of its kind in the Sultanate. The production capacity of the new plant is about 25,000 tonnes per annum of multipurpose coated rolled aluminium. Coated aluminum is used in many industries, such as the manufacture of containers used in packaging food, roofing, construction materials and others. It should be noted that the construction work of the project will be completed in less than two years, and the commercial production is expected to commence in September 2015. — ONA
