Arab Tourism Media Award presented

MUSCAT  — A celebration was held at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel yesterday to hand over the 4th version of the Arab Tourism Media Awards and the Arab Heritage Man Award, which was organised by the Arab Centre for Tourism Media in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism under the auspices of Ahmed bin Nasser al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism. Hussain Ali al Manaie, Chairman of the Arab Centre for Tourism Media announced that Al Roya newspaper of Oman got the best tourism-focused award. Al Arabi magazine of Kuwait and Middle East News Agency of Egypt captured the best Arab media means that cover the tourism issues.
‘Reports’ programme of Algerian Radio, by Sbareen Rafleen, got the best radio tourism award. “Live in Egypt ‘ programme, aired by channel 2 of Egypt, captured the best TV tourism programme. The Centre presented special awards to “Nice towns’ aired by Egyptian Satellite Channel (ESC). Tamarah City of Morocco captured the best tourism website award. Atif bin Mohammed al Qadhi of Saudi Arabia and Mustafa al Maamari, of Oman shared the best tourism writer award. Majdi Saleem, Chairman of the Public Authority for Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism in Egypt captured the Arab Tourism Ambassador Award.
1286Shaikh Abdul Mohsen al Hakeer won the Tourism Personality Award and Dr Abdul Aziz al  Tuwaijri, Chairman of ISESCO and Chairman of Islamic Organisation for Culture and Arts captured the Heritage Personality of the Year and the Arab Heritage Man for 2014. While Salalah captured the best Arab tourism destination award in 2014, Ras Al Khaimah City, the best tourism growing, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi captured the best Arab tourism attraction award and Oman Air captured the best Arab air carrier award. The Minister of Tourism said in a statement that he is happy to take part in this celebration. He pointed out that the Arab Tourism Media Centre is a leading NGO that plays an important role in promoting the Arab tourism.
As for the Sultanate’s capturing of four of the 18 awards, he pointed out that the Sultanate has many rich tourism potentials. Dr Sultan bin Khamis al Yahyaie, Chairman of the Oman Centre for Tourism Media delivered a speech where he said that organising this event in the Sultanate showcases the tourism importance of the Sultanate and the development it has witnessed in all fields. Hussain Ali al Manaie, Chairman of the Arab Centre for Tourism Media said in a statement that the 15 tourism awards were launched in 2012. It is worth mentioning that the awards were unveiled during the Arab Media Forum, which was held under the theme ‘ Arab Tourism, subsidy and achievements’. The participants discussed a number of issues related to Arab tourism media, the new media and improper handling of the tourism news. — ONA
