Omani artists to exhibit at Moroccan festival
OMANI artists Moosa Omar and Idris al Hooti will be leaving the Sultanate for Morocco to participate in the Fourth Art International Festival of Azemmour which will be held between May 13 and 17 in Azemmour.
The festival is renowned for being one of the important art forums in terms of attracting the most acclaimed names in the field of fine art in the Arab world, and for the wealth of its professionals and technical workshops, murals, arts exhibitions and gathering of art critics, giving participants good opportunities to exchange experiences.
Moosa Omar is a mixed media artist whose works reflect elements and stories from daily life and mirror his traditional Omani roots. He uses symbols and motifs, colours and textures to produce his own distinct narrative. He has held over 10 solo exhibitions in Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait and Qatar and has travelled and exhibited widely across the globe, participating in shows in several European countries, the USA and Mexico, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Algeria, Morocco, Taiwan, Lebanon, Australia, South Korea, Egypt, Japan, Jordan, Syria, Bangladesh, China and the Arabian Gulf.
His notable exhibitions include shows at The White House, USA; The Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, India; National Art Gallery Shilpakala Academy Dhaka and Bangladesh National Museum, Bangladesh, Centre of Fine Art Berlin, Germany; National Centre for Performing Arts, China; ONSCO Beirut, Lebanon; Unesco Paris and the Institute du Monde l’Arab, Paris, France; Palace of Culture, Algeria; Palace of Arts El Gezeira and Museum of Modern Egyptian Arts, Egypt; Korea International Library, The Olympic Museum, Switzerland and the Olympic Museum, Australia; Museum of Modern Bagdad, Iraq; Taipei Fine Art Museum, Taiwan; Bait Al Zubair Museum and Bait Muzna Gallery, Oman.
Idris al Hooti is a renowned artist, graphic designer and calligrapher, who has delivered his unique style in representing his ideas on Omani culture through illustration, painting, digital art and video art. His works have been displayed in more than 80 exhibitions, locally and abroad since 1992.
The most important participations include Biennale Bangladesh in 1999 and 2012, and the Forum of Visual Arts in Jeddah in 2011, the International Exhibition in Britain in 2011, the Omani contemporary Art Exhibition in Switzerland in 2010 and the Circle Exhibition in Muscat 2007.
He has also participated in other shows in Jordan, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan, India, Turkey, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Britain, Japan and South Korea. He has presented workshops in several governorates in the Sultanate.
His artwork is inspired by the themes and features of the local environment and culture and he experiments in conceptual art using video art and digital art. He is a member of the Youth Art Studio and the Omani Society for Fine Art (OSFA).
