Road link to Saudi to open by year-end

IBRI — The direct border road between Oman and Saudi Arabia will be opened by the end of the year and this will be the most important road linking the Sultanate with the Kingdom. Speaking to Omani News Agency (ONA), Shaikh Saif bin Hemyar al Shuhi, Governor of the Al Dhahirah, said that the road will lead to economic and social boom in the Wilayat of Ibri and the Governorate of Al Dhahirah and activate better communication between the two sides.
He said that this road will be a land outlet between the Sultanate and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the Gulf states and will activate trade and economic activities between the GCC states, and will facilitate travel of citizens to the holy pilgrimage and Umrah. Al Shuhi added that private sector will be allowed to put up some essential services like gas stations and restrooms and other services at various locations on the road along with the government plans to generate some vital projects in the area. On investment opportunities to be provided by this road to attract investors, the governor said that there are several opportunities and that the private sector can benefit from this. — ONA
