Unicef hails child welfare
By A Staff Reporter — MUSCAT — The representative of Unicef in the Sultanate Usama Makawi affirmed that Omani children are set for a brighter future in the presence of strong educational and health owing to the positive changes that took place during the past four decades. Speaking to Oman TV, Makawi said since joining the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1996 pursuant to a Royal Decree the Sultanate has been striving to draw national strategies through several panels, the most important of which are the committee for follow-up on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the children’s welfare committee and these effort have fostered the Sultanate-Unicef partnership which is currently based on development of early childhood.
