Ferry passenger traffic grows
MUSCAT — The number of passengers via ferries rose by 18.3 per cent during the first four months of 2014 compared to the corresponding period of 2013.
The monthly bulletin of the National Ferries Company (NFC) pointed out that the number of passengers on board the ferries stood at 14,285 as at the end of April 2014.
The monthly bulletin added that vehicles shipping service witnessed a rise by 5.2 per cent during the first four months of 2014 as the number of vehicles shipped stood at 2,041. The total cargo stood at 579.3 tonnes.
The number of passengers through NFC ferries during April 2014 rose by 67 per cent to 3,792 passengers compared to 2,269 passengers during the same period in 2013. The vehicles shipping also rose by 34 per cent to 575 vehicles compared with the same period in 2013. — ONA
